Anja and I met this past Sunday. She asked me for directions and I noticed her German accent. We talked for about 10 minutes, and I gave her my card in case she needed anything while she was in NYC. She contacted me the day after and we met for dinner. She is a journalist and asked a million interesting questions, and dinner turned into a long conversation about travelling, family dynamics, art, and the pursuit of happiness. By the time our plates and glasses were empty and our bellies were full, the conversation still felt unfinished. So we made plans to meet again. On Friday, we walked around the Met Cloisters, and ended up on sheep’s meadow in Central Park, still in the middle of this fascinating conversation. Two strangers, at first only connected through our language. After an iced coffee in the 85f heat, we said goodbye, only two blocks away from where we initially met. I love the unpredictability of life and the surprising connections I form with people. Some lasting, some fleeting. I’ll probably never love goodbyes, but life is fucking beautiful. “Everyone you meet knows something you don’t.” #portrait #portraitphotography #lookslikefilm #filmphotography #film #35mm #filmisnotdead #makemoreportraits #visualsoflife #discoverportraits #portraitphotography #detail #artofvisuals #aov #blueskyforida #onfilm #lookslikefilm #city_captures #nyc #newyork #thebronx #metmuseum
