Neon Raptor "Won't You Reconsider?" 8%. DIPA. 🦖 🦖 🦖 Turns out I'm a fan of turning dots into emojis. WHAT. This is only my second tipple from the guys at @neonraptorbrew and just like the beautiful "New Construction Options", this bastard is truly beautiful. Pouring a thick, murky as hell, rusty orange with a BIG, frothy, white head. Huge, fuck off aromas of sweet pineapples, crisp grape and other undisclosed tropics with piney high notes. The taste is big. Like, REALLY big. A beautifully executed balance of sweet tropical fruit juices, wet and piney hops, caramel malts and a nice alcohol warmth in the back of your throat. I feel a Notts visit and a brewery day coming on @thecraftbeerbasic . On it? Always. 8/10. After the fresh and crisp 10 years old, we’re going to have a look at the 12 years old. It underwent a slightly different cask treatment than its brothers: PX, Oloroso and virgin oak. The 10, 18 and 25 year old went for bourbon instead of virgin oak. What’s interesting, is that this one’s softer and warmer than the 10 and 18. I’d expect more wood and freshness, that’s funny! . Bottled at 46% and two more years of maturation, it’s a different experience than the more spirit driven 10yo. However, ginger, citrus peels and nutshells notes give away their kinship. The 12 is slightly bitter even, I’m not sure if I like that a lot. But personal taste aside, there’s a lot going on in here: . NOSE Fruity (mostly strawberry and raspberry), leathery, subtle dried fruits, chocolate peanuts . PALATE Nutshells, leather, tingling and a bitter waxy flavour, reminds me a bit of a farm . FINISH Starts fresh and tingling, evolves into a waxy finish with nutshells, orange peels, a hint of smoke dried barley, pear, walnuts and ginger spices . We tasted this one in combination with the 10, 18 and 25 years old. And while we are yet to reveal our results of the latter two, let me lift the veil a little bit: The 12 feels like the odd one out, it’s warmer and more bitter, a bit dull even. The 18 brings the freshness of the 10 back and is a lot more vivid. But again, it’s all personal preference, since Dion liked the 12 more than I did. One of the Gambero Rosso ”Tre Bichieri” Series, Elena Fucci Titolo Aglianico del Vulture 2015. I love this wine due to its aromatic character on both aromas and palate. Seductive notes of red cherries, minerals, musk, ash, roses and a bit wood. It seemed to be aged in French Barrique and has very smooth texture in terms of ripe blackberries, vanilla, and smoky minerals. Very long finish gives penetration into the throat backup with concentrated black fruits and fragrance elements. Good structure and well balancing. A very #unexpectedpairing tonight! Colchagua Valley #Carmenere along with a lime-and-olive-oil-dressed arugula salad. I picked the wine to go with the main course, but it ended up tasting magical with the salad! Light bodied for a carmenere, with sweet spice notes and some minerality 🍷

Tedorigawa Yoshidakura daiginjo Yoshida-shuzo, Hakusan-shi Ishikawa I thought this would be fragrant and fruity but it had just a subtle aroma of bergamot and tobacco. On the tongue it had a very soft attack from which a distinct flavor of liquorice developed, leaving a buzzy kind of aftertaste on the back of the tongue and upper palate. There are many elements that bring aroma to a vintage of wine. Afinal se é para degustar, vamos dar uma chance para o destaque na promoção pela bagatela de R$15,90. Um Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, produzido no Chile, da região do Valle Del Maule. Ao servir na taça, percebi que a sua coloração intensa tom rubi já foi se destacando, e logo em seguida um aroma suave de frutas vermelhas estava presente... Enfim, um vinho simples, sem muitas notas marcantes mas ótimo para acompanhar a pizza que pedimos! Adoramos a escolha... Pinot chileno “simplão” para o dia-a-dia! . Este é o “Little Quino 2016”, um Pinot Noir varietal da linha “SouthernMost”, produzida pelo grande @WilliamFevre na região do Vale de Malleco, no extremo sul (muito frio!) do Chile. . As uvas são colhidas manualmente, fermentadas com a menor intervenção possível, e o vinho não passa por barricas. . Cor rubi média-baixa. Aromas de fruta negra madura e um herbáceo intenso, com um leve toque tostado depois de um tempo na taça. E só! Na boca é um vinho de pouca estrutura, com corpo leve e taninos suaves. Tem acidez média e bom frescor, aromas frutados e um discreto amargor. . Um vinho que não me conquistou... Mas também não desagradou, pois é fresco e fácil de beber... Quench contributor Brie Dema recently tasted the Seaweed Gin from @thenewfoundlanddistilleryco - a tipple currently only available to locals but soon to be available nation-wide. “As the name suggests, this is made from Dulse (a type of seaweed) along with juniper,” writes Dema. “And the result is a smoky, herb forward gin. Notes of rosemary, oregano and saline ocean air. Slightly drying on the palate, but balanced by its alcohol. A perfect gin for an Islay Scotch drinker. Very fragrant Alsace Gewurtztraminer, 2015 Clos Saint-Jacques. Notes of iris flower, cucumber skin and tonic water, an aroma of custard apple and lilies, and a chlorophyll back-note which makes for an exquisite experience. Floral and slightly vegetal, it manages to be light and refreshing while maintaining interest with a deep and intriguing taste. Stunner.
